{"id":5486,"date":"2012-02-08T13:48:08","date_gmt":"2012-02-08T12:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bookleteer.com\/blog\/?p=5486"},"modified":"2012-02-08T14:06:04","modified_gmt":"2012-02-08T13:06:04","slug":"according-to-the-artists-talking-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bookleteer.org\/blog\/2012\/02\/according-to-the-artists-talking-art\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;According To The Artists&#8217; \/ &#8216;Talking Art&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before the New Year, we published the first series of <a href=\"http:\/\/proboscis.org.uk\/3169\/material-conditions-limited-edition-set\/\" target=\"_blank\">Material Conditions<\/a>, a set of eight eBooks asking professional creative practitioners to reflect on what the material conditions for their own practice are, especially now in relation to the climate of change and uncertainty brought about by the recession and public sector cuts.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, I&#8217;ve come across a couple of books that draw parallels \u2013 miniature libraries of creative insights and artistic working practices \u2013 which should be of interest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cornerhouse.org\/bookstore\/product\/according-to-the-artists\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>According to the Artists<\/strong><em> \u2013 13 Questions, 51 Interviews<\/em><\/a>, (the title is pretty self-explanatory).<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cornerhouse.org\/bookstore\/product\/talking-art-2\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Talking Art<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Interviews with artists since 1976 <\/em><\/a>, (collected interviews published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artmonthly.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Art Monthly<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re starting to plan the next series of Material conditions, this time centered around collective responses rather than individual commissions.
